Reimagine English teaching for Vietnamese students of all grades and proficiency levels
My responsibilities
As the leader of editing and illustration teams, I worked with K-12 teachers to restructure and redesign English textbooks. In order to validate our design ideas, I conducted prototype testing. Through user interviews and internal discussions, I created the outline and templates for the teams to work off of. I optimized our workflows through transparent communication and rigorous collaboration.

a simple & structural approach to English teaching for students from Grade 6–11
Speed Up is an on-going project that covers all English lessons from grade 6 - 11. The sample shown below is the demo for grade 9. The current English textbook is very dense, visually and textually; thus, we want to give it a clearer structure and a lighter look to alleviate students' learning process. The book are divided into 3 sections: linguistics, skills, and tests. The first part concentrates on vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar. Instead of listing all the new words in a table and put them at the end of the book, we create flashcards with images and examplesrelated to a specific theme and embed them within the unit. The second part focuses on the four skills: reading, speaking, listening, and writing with tips and tricks to make progress faster. The third part is the collection of tests that intends to help students achieve better academic performance at school. Although the project does less to challenge the existing curriculum, it's an effort to create more engaging lessons based on the fixed content.

Master English Grammar with Infographics covers English grammar ranging from beginner to advanced level. The book consists of two parts, each with 10 separate topics. Every given topic is divided into three sections: basic theory, advanced theory, and exercises. Next to an exercise is a symbol signifying the level of difficulty, so that the students have the freedom to pick and choose which one they want to work on, depending on their current proficiency and personal goal. Unlike a traditional grammar book, we break a complex topic into bite-size units and use infographics to deliver the theories in a systematic and engaging manner. Although learning grammar is a tedious process, it is an essential part of any languages. Therefore, we adopt a more visual approach to encourage students to study at their own pace and enhance their overall learning experience.

Breakthrough 8+: English is an intermediate to advanced English reference book for high school seniors aiming at 8 or higher scores for the national final exam. It provides a 6-week agenda with attainable goals that take an average of 1.5 to 2 hours per day to complete. Each week is wrapped up with a multiple-choice test so that students can get familiar with the final exam’s format and review all of the lessons learnt over the past 6 days. Grammar and pronunciation are explained in graphs to enhance students’ memory retention. While grammar gives each lesson a structure, various examples, exercises, and readings introducing in-context new words, collocations, and phrasal verbs create meaningful connection with the language. Exercises sometimes come in the form of games for more interaction and excitement. Tips and tricks are also included to help students tackle difficult exercises.
An elementary English reference book for high school seniors
A survey carried out by Thanh Nien Newspaper reported that up to 78.55% of high school seniors had English grades below the average in the 2018 national final exam. In response to such unfavorable result, our team of young English teachers came up with Easy 5, an elementary English reference book for high school seniors aiming at the mark of 5. It provides a 7-week agenda with attainable goals that take an average of 1.5 to 2 hours per day to complete. Each week is wrapped up with a multiple-choice test on all of the lessons learnt over the past 6 days. Instead of covering all the components, the book centers around grammar to establish the foundational knowledge while including readings and vocabulary for a more comprehensive approach to learning the language. Grammar is explained in graphs and illustrations and exercises sometimes come in the form of games to enhance interactivity and students’ memory retention. Unlike traditional books that address each grammatical aspect separately, Easy 5 goes over one topic multiple times in increasing difficulty to offer students a chance to review previous lessons and gain new insights into the same topic.
